This project started when my cousin Melsy Hennessey received a faded, mimeographed copy of my family's history from her and my father's cousin Marjorie Holmes. She also had copies of newspaper clippings about my great grandfather Israel Armstrong when he was working to start a union at one of the local shoe factories in Lynn, Massachusetts as well as a picture of him.

I think the family history was originally put together by Edith Mosher and Mrs. Jennie Armstrong Story and appeared to have been typed in the 1960's perhaps 70's. I never knew much about my family except my immediate aunts, uncles and cousins. Unfortunately being the youngest son of the youngest son in my branch of the Armstrongs I only knew my father's mother Josephine and she passed away when I was nine. This information opened up a whole new world to me regarding my family so I re-typed all this information hoping my children might want to read it someday as well as anyone else on the web who might have been descended from this family.

Some of the type was faded so I might have misspelled some names but I think most of the information is intact. I'm in the process of updating as I discover new information. In fact recently I was able to learn Squire George's and his wife Matida's parents names by finding a comment at ancestory.com by a Mr. Robert Anthony. So hopefully in time I will be able to expand the information. And of course as our present generations' families grow I try to add them to the record. If you're somehow related to me or not for that matter I would enjoy hearing from you so drop me a note at: barmstrong@wsvn.com.

Also I've intentionally omitted some birthdates and mother's maiden names in, as they say, an over abundance of caution to prevent identity theft.
